#SaveSAwine Mural

This project is launching on the fantastic feedback from the #60in60 campaign. Thanks to you, we reach over 300,000 people per month, creating a much-needed buzz around the South African Wine Industry! – Uncorkified- Erica Taylor. We are partnering with Robinson & Sinclair and Baz-Art and taking over the corner building of 192 Loop St in Cape Town! The mural will debut on the First Thursdays Cape Town in December with a socially distanced wine street festival to kick off summer.

Baz-Art is to create a bespoke mural and canvas series for the #SaveSAWine campaign. The mural will be hand-painted onto the building façade of nr. 192 Loop Street, Cape Town. With the use of geometric shapes and patterns, the mural – a modern, abstract piece – will organically connect a series of 9 individual wall canvasses inspired by the diversity, unity and culture of the South African Wine region and its winemakers. The mural will be officially launched and revealed on First Thursday, 3rd of December 2020, and the series of canvasses will be completed on the evening by Baz-Art’s artists. Each wall canvas will then be digitally rendered into a wine label.

The #SaveSAWine + Robinson & Sinclair Mural Project launched 3 December in Cape Town. Artist Waynebks of Baz-Art painted our homage to the South African Wine Industry opposite the R&S – The Wine Shop on Loop Street.

Highlights of the mural:~

The WWF South Africa Conservation Champion initiative (#followthesugarbird) works with 45 wine farms that are actively restoring balance, reducing impact, and protecting our country’s vital resources and natural biodiversity. Their contribution features a gorgeous sugarbird, one of the eight bird species endemic to the Fynbos biome of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. The sugarbird sits atop a pink protea surrounded by abstract elements of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

The SA Wine Industry Transformation Unit artwork features a strong, self-confident female image in the design center. The light shining on her face indicates the bright future ahead. The colours used indicate our enterprises—Red, and orange, showing our brands’ vibrant energy and inner strength. Pink indicating the vision, originality, and creativity that is required in the wine industry to differentiate yourself and reinvent yourself. Purple represents the brand’s destiny and inspiration to improve their lives and their families and communities’ lives. Blue symbolizes their honour and grace in doing business. Green focuses on the prosperity and growth that we want to become sustainable for the businesses.

This mural project is the brainchild of Sarah Krone of Robinson & Sinclair to help shed further light on the #SaveSAWine Campaign run by Erica Taylor of Uncorkified.
